David Mease's "Statistical Aspects of Data Mining" course, taught a few years back at both Stanford and Google, is a great introduction to data mining and R. (Much better, in fact, than a lot of more recent material. It's an oldie but a goodie.) Here's the complete course as it was taught at Google for interested employees, broken down into ~one hour segments:
